Shared via Grief Healing – I’m a palliative care doctor. This is what I do.

More physicians need to go into the area of Palliative Care. As the population continues to age it is noticed that there are not enough services, not enough hospice or palliative care beds whether inpatient or in the community, funding continues to be cut, and who loses out? The dying individual, the individual diagnosed as terminal…….the family or friends of the individual who is diagnosed as terminal, with a chronic degenerative disease or is dying.

Advocacy, raising awareness of the issue, collaboration, and sharing of information is needed.

Dr. Thurston does such an excellent job explaining what palliative care is and isn’t! Great article.
