What a great and informative article that discusses the difference between hospice and palliative care. Ther terms are not interchangeable, but many people use them that way.
“In palliative care, we are not about end of life; we are about the life that you have left.”- The all important quote from the article that further helps with the distinction of the 2 words.
With palliative care, this is also super important: expert symptom management. Palliative care looks at the person as a whole. Their social issues, their existential distress. The palliative care team is that it is made up of many different disciplines—social work, chaplaincy, nurses and nurse practitioners, and physicians—that are all working together to address all of the needs of the patient at one time.
